BALANGHOY FESTIVAL

The Balanghoy Festival is a thanksgiving celebration for the abundance of harvest of cassava or “kamoteng kahoy”, a staple in every Tudelanhon household and is a major source of livelihood for the town’s farmers. It is also a way of thanking the town’s patron saint, Mary of the Immaculate Conception for a bountiful harvest. The dance steps are inspired by the process of producing cassava delicacies – from planting, harvesting and cooking.
