Katubhan Festival

Medellin is an agricultural municipality with sugarcane or “Tubo” as the main crop. Sugar cane farming is also one of the main sources of livelihood of the local folks. With this, the organizers have more than enough reason to transform the Medellin Sinulog Festival into Medellin Katubhan. In the transformed festival, each contingent must introduce sugar cane concept to their street dance and ritual but still performing the traditional beat and steps in honor of Sto. Niño, for the good sugar harvest. Katubhan festival will honor Sr. Sto. Niño, for the good climate, the vast harvest, and heavenly sweet sugar of Medellin. The festival will also showcase the paradigm shift of the LGU from purely agricultural municipality to economic zone and tourism capital of the North.
