About the event
The festival focuses on the town’s famous delicacy the ‘tostado’. The street dancing which is the highlight of the festivity uses the different movements of making a tostado in the dance participated in by the different barangays. Tostado are cut cookies home-baked by the local folks since time immemorial for fiestas and other celebration to be given to visitors and guests as take home or bring-house. Tostado festival dance is characterized by its basic steps in making tostado cookies such as: “batil” for mixing, “ligis” for kneading, “hulma” for cutting and “horno” for baking. Celebrated every 3rd Saturday of April as a Fiesta highlight on ante-vesperas, in Honor of Santander’s Patron Saint Gabriel the Archangel.
